Established nearly 50 years ago, the Mescal Movie Set has been the backdrop for numerous Western films. Notable movies such as "Tombstone" (1993) featuring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer, and "The Quick and the Dead" (1995) starring Gene Hackman, Sharon Stone and Leonardo DiCaprio. For a period of time the set was owned and operated by its sister Tucson Movie Studios. However, in 2021, the Kartchner family, known for their deep Arizona roots, acquired the property and a renaissance of western movie filming has been underway. Today, the set offers guided tours, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the Old West ambiance and learn about its cinematic history.
